Most reliable vehicles of 2021

J.D. Power published the results of their latest, 2021, research in which they took a closer look at how reliable are the most sought after car brands. This study, now in its 32nd year, is measuring the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) experienced during the past 12 months by the original owners of 3 old vehicles. A lower score reflects higher dependability and the study covers 177 specific problems grouped into 8 major vehicle categories: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats.

The fact that Volkswagen, Honda, Volvo and Jaguar scored so badly wasn't something I expected, especially when it's coming to Honda which overall is having a good reputation for being reliable while seeing Mercedes Benz being the first at the beyond average label was also a result which I didn't saw coming. The fact that such names as Lexus, Porsche or Toyota are in the top is not a surprise because they're scoring great every single year since a while, while even the presence of the Korean duo in the top 10, Hyundai and KIA, wasn't unpredictable due to the fact that these two are constantly in the top in J.D. Power reports since 2017. Than there is Cadillac, Lincoln and Chevrolet in the top 13, three brands which I wouldn't thought that they'll be higher in the scoreboard than Mercedes Benz but anyway it's beneficial to see how things change in the auto industry, how manufacturers hold up to their good or bad reputation, the number of progress which some of them made and how many problems 3 years vehicles can produce.
